DUMBO is one of those places where you can walk just a few minutes and find yourself in a completely different setting. One moment we're photographing on a cobblestone street with the Manhattan Bridge behind you. A few minutes later, we're by the water, with the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline in the background. That's exactly why I love this neighborhood for engagement and couple photos.

What makes DUMBO special?

For me, it's the variety. The old brick buildings, narrow streets, beautiful bridges, and waterfront all have their own character. We can create stylish, architectural portraits and then switch to something more natural and relaxed without traveling across the city. I especially love the contrast between the historic Brooklyn streets and the modern Manhattan skyline.
It's a great location if you want your photos to have a real New York atmosphere without every picture looking the same.

My favorite photo spots in DUMBO

Washington Street is probably the most recognizable. The Manhattan Bridge appears between the buildings, creating a beautiful composition. It's a popular spot, but with the right framing and timing, we can create some really strong portraits.

Brooklyn Bridge Park is perfect for wider photographs with the city behind you. I love using the waterfront, the greenery, and the open views to give the gallery a completely different look.

Pebble Beach is another favorite. It's especially beautiful for couples who want photographs by the water, with the bridges and skyline in the background.

And between these locations, there are plenty of smaller streets and interesting corners where we can capture more spontaneous moments.

When is the best time for photos?

I usually recommend early morning, especially if you want photographs on Washington Street. DUMBO gets busy, and having fewer people around makes a big difference. We can move more easily, take our time, and avoid spending half the session waiting for a clear background. Evening sessions can also be beautiful along the waterfront, especially when the city lights begin to appear.

A little advice on what to wear

DUMBO works beautifully with both elegant and casual clothing. A simple black dress, a well-fitted suit, or a more relaxed outfit can all look great here. It really depends on the feeling you want for your photographs. I usually recommend keeping the outfits coordinated without matching too closely. And bring comfortable shoes for walking between locations.
