The St. Regis New York is one of those wedding venues that feels timelessly elegant and unmistakably iconic — a place where history and luxury become part of your celebration. Located on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, this landmark hotel first opened in 1904 and was developed by John Jacob Astor IV, establishing a legacy of refined hospitality and bespoke service that has lasted for more than a century.

Stepping inside The St. Regis, you immediately feel its classic Beaux-Arts character: polished interiors, rich wood and marble accents, and an atmosphere that blends historic presence with gracious sophistication. From ornate ballrooms to intimate salons — and even the rooftop ballroom with sweeping city views — the venue offers a range of settings that feel both grand and personal.  Whether you imagine an elegant ceremony under crystal chandeliers or a rooftop reception with Manhattan lights twinkling behind you, the environment naturally feels elevated without ever overshadowing the emotions of the day.

Built as a luxury destination from the beginning, the St. Regis has stood as a symbol of New York refinement for generations. Its architecture and interiors reflect a legacy of refined occasion — a quality that still resonates today when couples choose this venue to mark one of the most meaningful moments of their lives.

My Experience Photographing Weddings at The St. Regis New York

My team and I have had the honor of photographing weddings at The St. Regis New York, and what always strikes me first is how each space feels like its own narrative chapter. From the quiet anticipation as couples prepare in luxurious suites to the joyous energy of a reception in a glittering ballroom, the venue supports every emotional beat of a wedding day.

Architecturally, the St. Regis offers something for both editorial portraiture and candid storytelling. In spaces like the Versailles or Fontainebleau Rooms, soft light and refined décor give portraits an elegant, polished feel. In larger settings like the St. Regis Roof Ballroom, the scale and detail — including vaulted ceilings and gilt chandeliers — create a cinematic backdrop that makes first dances, toasts, and family moments feel expansive yet personal.

One of my favorite memories was a winter wedding where portraits on the rooftop terrace captured the Manhattan skyline just as evening lights flickered on below. Those images felt like your day blended with the soul of the city in a way that only a place like the St. Regis can deliver — intimate yet unmistakably grand.
