A Heartwarming Christmas Proposal in NYC: Love Served with a Side of Nostalgia
Just before Christmas, I had the honor of capturing one of the most touching proposals I’ve ever photographed. In a cozy, old-fashioned diner tucked away in the heart of New York City, a young man planned a secret proposal that perfectly matched their love story—intimate, unexpected, and full of charm. To keep the surprise, I blended in as a diner patron, camera discreetly in hand, waiting for the perfect moment. When he got down on one knee, her reaction was everything—tears of pure joy and disbelief filled her eyes, and the entire room seemed to pause in awe of their love.
After the proposal, we spent an additional hour wandering through the city for an impromptu photoshoot. I used my Canon R3 for crisp, timeless images and my Leica film-style camera to capture the essence of NYC’s romantic atmosphere in a more nostalgic and artistic way. The blend of modern and classic photography styles perfectly complemented their heartfelt story and the timeless vibe of the season.
